No matter what your time zone is. you have 24 hours a day. It doesn't matter when or if you change to and from daylight savings time. You still have 24 hours a day. It's the same for all creatures of our planet! How is it that some people don't seem to "have time" to do anything and others have such full lives?It used to be we would talk about couch potatoes, people addicted to TV. An even bigger problem for many of us is the number of hours spent in front of the computer. Certainly, there are wonderful time savers available on the Internet, web check-in for air travel, shopping online, marching for books and information in our library systems. finding out weather conditions, checking news reports, and communicating with friends and family. However, there are many computer users who just can't seem to pull themselves away from that screen.
A person with a low level of engagement probably drags himself out of bed in the morning, rushes out the door with minimal nourishment, works as much as is required of him, and then heads home for a night of TV or surfing the net. If you're feeling as though there is no energy left for you at the end of a workday, it may be time to explore how you can increase your energy levels so that you can engage more fully in your life. There is scientific evidence to show that significant changes can be accomplished in raising your level of engagement in life, the meaning life has to you, and the "you" that you find in situations every day.
When you volunteer, you get to expand your network and your experience. Being a part of a volunteer program exposes you to different things and different aspects of you profession. This will help you to explore and may open new avenues for you and your career that you would have been unaware of previously. For instance, you can do things such as offer to be
a speaker at a school, seminar, or presentation. You can write articles for websites and newsletters. You can also conduct workshops for entry level people in your profession and you can offer to be someone's mentor.
Remember, it's not easy to soar up all the way without getting some help from the world around you. But once you know how to extract help and learn by helping others, there's no way else to go but on top. And you alone are responsible in getting yourself a head start. Don't give up, and keep your eyes peeled. For all you know, there may be an opportunity waiting just for you, right around the corner.
The first step in making any change is getting a clear assessment of the present situation. It is certainly true in this situation. There are some basic questions to ask yourself. And these questions can change the way you look at your own life. Some may call them soul searching questions, while others may just call them life changing ones, but just as long as you ask yourself these questions, every thing's going to turn out just right
